We hope to convey, clearly, answers to some of the questions we commonly answer as Oregonians living and serving in Nicaragua. If you have a question that is not here, or not answered clearly enough, please contact us. We would love to share our hearts with you!
Q. What do you do in Nicaragua?
A. To put it simply, we moved to Nicaragua to help children. For us this has taken on various forms, but mostly we have volunteered in the classrooms at Club Esperanza (the after school club and feeding program in La Chureca), worked on the continued development work at Ruby Ranch (the 500+ acre ranch that will eventually be a wilderness camp), hosted short-term mission teams and become a part of the dynamic prayer team at Miss Ruby’s house. We’ve also babysat, coached basketball, helped develop a Ruby Ranch website, and many other ‘random’ things.
Q. Who do you work with?
A. We work with Open Hearts International Children’s Relief Ministry (also known as Open Hearts Ministry). It was began over 18 years ago by Mr. and Mrs. Buzbee and has grown into a thriving ministry. The Buzbees have become incredible friends of ours, and we love working alongside them for the Kingdom. Krista (Mr. and Mrs. Buzbee’s daughter) and her husband Chris keep an awesome blog going if you’d like to read the story from someone else’s perspective or would like more background.
Q. How long do you plan on being in Nicaragua?
A. At this point, indefinitely. We are always open to the Lord changing the plan, but as far as we know we will live and work in Nicaragua for the rest of our lives.
Q. How can I support you?
A. If you would like to financially support us, you can visit the Money Stuff page here on our blog. And we can ALWAYS use more prayer support.
La Vida Nica! Sounds real exotic. The Nicaraguan Life? Who knew I’d actually need a little Español… In a family the size of ours with many who love the Lord it makes sense that some would follow a call to foreign missions. Really touched by all this Jamie
